The 3 Month Mechanic

How I Became an Aircraft Mechanic in One Month

Thank you for purchasing The 3 Month Mechanic.

The 3 Month Mechanic has a lot of information that can help you, whether you're already working as an aircraft mechanic or if you're still just thinking about getting into this career.

In a moment you'll have access to all of that information, but first I want to talk to you more about how I actually became a mechanic, and how I did it in around one month.

As I discuss in The 3 Month Mechanic, when I first wanted to become an aircraft mechanic I thought I had to either join the military or go to college.

I had no clue that there was another way to become a mechanic.

And I’m not the only one, because I talk to people every week that are interested in this career field and they, too, have no clue that they don’t have to go to college or join the military to get started.

But you can do this, and the key is knowing where to find apprenticeship programs, and also how to get into them.

By joining the right apprenticeship program you can get the training you need and become an aircraft mechanic very, very quickly.

Back in 2008, in the apprenticeship program I joined I was making $12.15 an hour, or roughly $480 a week.

That was even before I began working in the hangar on actual aircraft.

Once I was actually working on aircraft at the repair station I was able to make even more, and my weekly checks were usually around $700.

That was amazing to me at the time, because even though it’s not a huge amount of money, it was a lot more than I had ever made in my life!

It was good because I had just graduated high school and I really wasn’t interested in having to go back to school so soon.

I was ready for a break. I was also ready to begin making some real money.

I also didn’t have the money for college at the time. I was flat broke, and I also didn’t want to have expensive student loans following me around for years.

Some people pay $50,000 or more for college to become an aircraft mechanic. Not all courses are that expensive, but most of them still cost thousands of dollars.

Becoming an apprentice will allow you to skip going to an expensive aviation college or technical school.

There are many different types of apprenticeship prgrams available to you, but some are much better than others.

To be successful and make the most money in this career, you need to make sure you join the RIGHT type of program before you sign up for one.

It took me a long time to figure out which apprenticeship programs are the BEST.

Once you know how to find a program, the next step is getting accepted.

It also took me a long time to figure out exactly what I needed to do to actually get into one of these programs.

There are some key steps you must take, and different programs can have different requirements.

But once you know what you need to do, getting into an apprenticeship program can actually be pretty simple.

Once I figured out how to do it, I was able to get started in just a few weeks.

In fact, the initial training only lasted a little more than a month.

I had just graduated high school 7 or 8 months before, and I was already working on large passenger planes and making $600 - $800 a week.

Becoming an aircraft mechanic apprentice will allow you to:
  • Not have to join the military to get your training

  • Not have to go to college

  • Not pay anything to begin your career

Even if you’re already in the military or have attended a school, you can still take advantage of an apprenticeship program.

That’s why I took everything I know about becoming an apprentice and made Mechanic in a Month:

I just started my apprenticeship to become an avionics technician back in March. Sometimes the work can be a little complicated but I can understand it and get through it. It’s all a learning process.

This book has many useful tips that I think will help most people if you want to become an apprentice technician. It has really helped me to know what I need to focus on so later I can advance my career. I’m also planning to get my A and P license which I didn’t even know I needed until I went over the information in this book.

I bought this after reading the 3 Month Mechanic book and the other book that came with it. I have been thinking about becoming an aircraft mechanic for a year now and am ready to get started, hence why I found these books in the first place.

These books have inspired me to actually get going, and the advice and info the author Mike gives has really made me excited to start. I actually liked this book even more because he goes into detail about how to get started without going to aviation school.

He also discusses what he went through and what to expect once you become an aircraft apprentice. The chapter about which jobs you should try to get experience doing was also very helpful as well. Before I read this I didn’t even know you could choose different job positions.

I especially liked that when I emailed the author Mike, he emailed me right back and asnwered all of my questions. It’s really nice to know that he is always there to help as I get started with my new career.

This was a very interesting and helpful guide. I plan to use the information to become a structures mechanic hopefully in the near future. That’s the same type of work I have always done, just not on airplanes.

Honestly I was skeptical at first because I’ve never heard of anyone becoming an aircraft technician apprentice. However, after reviewing the info I now understand the process and I believe this is the route I am going to take. I already have a good amount of experience working as an automotive technician, so I’m sure this will not be a problem for me.

I’m so glad I found these books I feel like they have really helped me understand what I need to do to start as a plane mechanic. I didnt have any idea that you could do this and I was planning to enroll into my local community college for aviation classes which even though is just local college is still really expensive for me. Now I’m looking for an apprenticship not far from my house its about a hour away but worth it to drive if I don’t have to pay for school.

I bought these books for my son as he wants to pursue this career. So far he seems to like the books and has told me about what he has learned. I still want him to go to college, but if what he says is true and he can find a place that has on-the-job training, I guess that would be good.

I’m about to graduate high school and I wan tto work on airplanes for a job. My dad works on plane and has my entire life. He bought these 3 month mechanic books for me and I really like them. Even my dad liked them even tho he already does this work. He went to school a long time ago back in the 1990’s to work on planes but I want to do it the way it says in this book. My dad has been helping me look and he thinks he knows a few places that have training on the job programs. I am looking forward to getting started.
